The proper oral hygiene could do much more than keep your teeth white and free from decay, could also serve as a great help for your overall health.
Experts say that the cumulative results of several investigations increasingly suggest that periodontal disease may exacerbate various health problems ranging from diabetes, heart disease and respiratory disease, including premature births. For example, several promising studies have found that levels of blood sugar of diabetics who have periodontal disease were reduced to normal when they tried gum disease patient. Further inquiries revealed that the incidence of respiratory diseases among residents of nursing homes was reduced when they received treatment for gum disease, said Dr. Robert Genco, a distinguished professor of oral biology at the School of Dental Medicine at the University of New York at Buffalo.
